How Much Fire Glass do you Need?
Fire Glass is only meant to be a Decorative “Topping” for a Fire Feature, so you only need to purchase enough to create a layer approximately 1 ½” to 2″ in depth. Underneath the Fire Glass another filler material (such as Lava Rock) can be used to fill up the bowl to the level of the fire ring.
Please refer to the Product Page of your Fire Feature, where you will find how much Fire Glass it will hold.
We recommend installing a screen material to keep the Fire Glass from sinking below the Lava Rock. Stucco lathe for ceiling works very well as a screen material and is available in local hardware stores. Once you have the screen material in place, simply pour the Fire Glass on top.
