Description

This is a DU55 Lounge Chair, designed by Gastone Rinaldi for Rima in 1954. This example is quite rare and represents some of the finest Italian design work from the 1950s. The lounge chair features a molded seat of polyurethane that is upholstered in an ochre yellow nubby fabric, and the tapered legs are formed from mahogany and have brass sabots at their feet. Poltrona Frau relaunched this silhouette utilizing tapered steel legs, though we believe the original tapered wood legs are far more fetching. The piece was last purchased via WYETH in 2004, with a list price of $8,500 USD.

This chair measures 31.5 inches deep, 32.5 inches wide, and is 35 inches high. It has a seat height of 14.5 inches. The legs have some hairline cracks, and the foam is a bit crunchy. Overall, this chair is in good original condition. Please see photos.
